Thieves Aren't Tidy
Now there's something that I've never really thought about. Thieves really aren't tidy...they don't clean up after themselves. Twice now I've had my trucks violated. First time was the late Rusty back in August of 2001. I say violated because I can't technically say "broken into" if I leave the truck unlocked in the driveway overnight. My first thought was that Steve and Adrian - who had just arrived at my house for a fun-filled day at The Beach - had played a joke on me opening up my glove compartment and not closing it and pulling the Beanie Bag out and putting it on my passenger's seat. After a little interrogation, they insisted it wasn't them and a chill went right through me. Someone had gotten into my truck right in my very own driveway overnight! Fortunately, all they managed to get was my wallet (yes...I'd left it in the UNLOCKED truck as well as my garage door opener...think about that one!) with no cash. To this day, I've managed to escape any identity theft.
All was well and good until this past Thursday when I was at an undisclosed location (to protect the innocent). Once again...truck (this time little Franklin) in the driveway...unlocked. This time it wasn't over night but just probably less than an hour all the while I was less than 20 feet away. Once again those untidy thieves just left my truck a mess. My first thought was - "those silly dogs of mine - how did they make such a mess in my front seat?!" And then it hit me. Eventhough I had my very sweet MP3 player, various restaurant gift cards, AND a spare car key all in there...all they seemed to be interested in was the cash. They might have gotten maybe 7 bucks in change. And before you think that they just didn't FIND the spare key and gift cards, that untidy thief left them thrown all over the front seat.
Before you ask...no...I haven't "learned my lesson". I will still refuse to live my life locking all my "stuff" when it's not within my sight. But thanks for the concern... :)

I had that happen once.... its no fun. No lectures, just a gee I am sorry that happened to you Joycee
I'm sorry about your truck being violated. It stinks when people invade your privacy like that. Also wanted to say how nice it was to chat with you last night. Hope to chat again next Hughsday!
Hughsday....I like that. :) I'll be there!
Thanks for stopping by, bmax!
You stubborn little Miss Green Pickle One Tooth! Haven't you learned your lesson? If one's vehicle gets violated because one left one's truck door unlocked....then one must lock one's vehicle door...you silly, silly little girl! :) I don't leave my purse or keys in the van, but I thought of how many people leave their garage door openers in their vehicles. And how easy it would be for some creep-ola to just open the door to your vehicle, punch one button and freely walk in your home while you are asleep and do goodness-knows-what! Be safe, little sister!
Unfortunately, last evening I just found out some mischievous behavior has been going on in the neighborhood. Windows being knocked out of cars sitting on the streets...unlocked cars being opened and money stolen. Geesh.....it has everyone watching and keeping their lights on. Pretty sure it's the kids we've been seeing run the streets a lot since last summer. I should put up a Beware Of Dog sign!! heheheee
